The ‘Kel Strong’ Mabatah Foundation Nears $100,000 Milestone to Support Individuals Impacted by Traumatic Brain Injuries Ahead of Giving Tuesday
Houston, TX —12/2/25— As Giving Tuesday approaches, The ‘Kel Strong’ Mabatah Foundation is proud to celebrate a year of meaningful growth, partnership, and expanding impact in support of individuals recovering from traumatic brain injury (TBI). The foundation has raised $97,000 year-to-date, placing it just shy of its $100,000 annual fundraising goal—a milestone made possible through generous donors, sponsors, and community advocates.
This year’s progress has been driven by two major fundraising events. The inaugural Spring Gala raised nearly $60,000, marking the foundation’s most successful fundraiser to date. Most recently, the 5th Annual Tennis Day continued a tradition of community engagement and collaboration, helping propel the organization close to its 2025 target.
“Approaching the $100,000 mark represents far more than financial progress—it represents belief, access, and hope for individuals impacted by traumatic brain injuries who deserve meaningful rehabilitation and a pathway forward,” said Kel Mabatah, Founder and President. “We are deeply grateful to everyone who has supported us and stood alongside this mission.” The ‘Kel Strong’ Mabatah Foundation provides rehab scholarships to individuals recovering from traumatic brain injuries for essential rehabilitation services, including:
Physical TherapyOccupational TherapySpeech TherapyNecessary Durable Medical Equipment
These services are critical to long-term neurological recovery but are frequently underfunded, leaving individuals impacted by traumatic brain injuries and their families with significant financial challenges during an already difficult time.
The foundation continues its partnership with TIRR Memorial Hermann Rehabilitation, where scholarship funding has helped support individuals impacted by TBIs through various stages of recovery. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to reduce care inequities and ensure that therapy access is not limited by financial circumstance. With Giving Tuesday underway, the foundation is launching its End-of-Year Giving Campaign, inviting both returning and new supporters to help close the remaining gap toward its annual goal.
“Giving Tuesday is a powerful reminder that when people come together, meaningful change becomes possible,” said Donovan Evans, Board Member. “Reaching our goal means more individuals impacted by traumatic brain injuries will have access to the therapy and support they need. Every contribution makes a difference.”
